For owners in Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Jersey, compare complete account costs under the actual utility arrangement and competing offers for the same period.
Verify the account and market
A rate proceeding may affect supply, delivery or other components. Obtain the actual order and effective tariff. Identify the utility, account class and dates before estimating impact. For Eversource, National Grid, United Illuminating, PSE&G or JCP&L, an approval headline cannot establish the bill change for every customer.
Record utility, supplier, service class, account identifiers and contract status. Eligibility and protections differ by class and territory.
Build the applicable baseline
Use default supply for the actual dates. Separate delivery, demand, riders and taxes. For variable mechanisms, label the future calculation as modeled, with stated assumptions.
Get comparable offers
- Same meters, start and duration.
- Same monthly and interval data.
- Explicit included and excluded components.
- Fees, deposits and credit requirements.
- Usage tolerance and termination.
- Renewal and holdover terms.
Verify supplier authorization. Ask how advisor compensation enters the quote.
Separate switching and delivery
Supply selection does not remove utility delivery charges or outage responsibility. Confirm enrollment timing and approval before treating a change as complete.
Fit property operations
Identify owner and tenant accounts, reimbursements and occupancy changes. Coordinate bidding while preserving utility, load and expiration differences.
Reconcile the first bill
Match supplier, dates, price, use, fees and exclusions to the executed agreement. Preserve quote and contract to distinguish usage and tariff changes from pricing errors.
Use headlines as context
Compare executable offers and scenarios. Fixed terms stabilize included components; delivery, usage and exclusions can change. A state-wide percentage does not establish property savings.
